Frozen Banana, Tahini, Dark Chocolate & Sesame Bites
These delightful frozen bites feel like a naughty snack but pack an impressive nutritional punch. Whether you’re hosting a BBQ for a crowd or simply at home with the kids this summer, these are brilliant to keep in the freezer and take out when you fancy a cooling sweet snack in this warmer weather. Some simple swaps include nut butter instead of tahini, milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate, and hemp seeds instead of sesame.
Servings: Approx 10 bites
Time: 1.5 hours including freezing time
Ingredients
2 bananas, peeled
10 tsp tahini
pinch of cinnamon
50g 70-85% chocolate
toasted sesame seeds
Method
- Line a small tray or tupperware with baking paper that can fit in the freezer.
- Slice the bananas into discs about 1cm thick and divide them into matching-sized pairs.
- Spoon 1 tsp of tahini onto one of the slices and place the other slice on top (depending on the consistency of the tahini this may be a bit slippy so be patient!)
- Do this for all of the pairs then place them straight on the lined tray and sprinkle with a little cinnamon.
- Place in the freezer for 30 minutes to firm up.
- Meanwhile, break up the dark chocolate and melt it in a bain-marie.
- When the banana slices are set, remove from the freezer, dunk in the melted chocolate and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.
- Place them back on the tray and pop in the freezer for at least 1 hour or until you’re ready to enjoy.
- Store in the freezer and remove 5-10 minutes before you want to devour them - you want them soft enough to bite into but not so soft that the chocolate starts to melt.
